This presentation, delivered at the 2025 National VET Conference, exemplifies how the 8 Ways of Aboriginal Learning can be incorporated into vocational learning practices to engage and support a wide range of learners with diverse and varying needs in a more holistic and collaborative fashion.
In recent years, ‘inclusivity’, including access, equity, and the provision of personalised supports, has featured prominently in best practice vocational training and education literature to reduce barriers and challenges in the successful engagement of learners who have diverse needs.
Yet more than ever, there are time limits, financial limitations, institutional considerations or training program constraints to consider in the development of programs, and this can make the task of tailoring learning and teaching to meet the needs of participants seem like an impossibility.
Educational practitioners should seek to integrate supports that develop and empower all learners through the use of strategies that cater to a range of needs.
Implementing multi-purpose teaching approaches and methodologies allows for greater cohesion in the learning and development journey for all students in any given cohort and makes lesson planning, preparation and delivery more effective and time efficient.
