This webinar forms one of six sessions in our Master Mentoring: Assessment series. Want to explore the full series? Click here.

Webinar overview

From 1 July 2025, a new unit of competency template option was introduced for Jobs and Skills Councils (JSCs) to use. As the developers of Training Package Training Products, some JSCs may choose to use the ‘Application of Skills and Knowledge (ASK)’ template for certain units of competency.

The session will include a short component to introduce the new ASK template with the aim of highlighting differences between it and the ‘Application, Elements & Performance Criteria’ template currently found in streamlined Training Packages.

Then, the session will shift across into looking at the do’s and don’ts of the assessment mapping document.

The assessment mapping document can be considered the foundational piece of evidence that an assessment tool covers all unit of competency evidence requirements. However, when not done well, it may instead give a false picture of coverage and compliance.

The intent of these sessions is to give tips and pointers about the things that add value to the quality of your assessment tools, and what to avoid because it undermines quality and compliance.

Key Topics Covered

  • The principles of robust, accurate mapping of VET assessment tools to unit requirements
  • Factors that undermine quality and compliance of the tool
  • How to ensure your mapping document does what it is intended to do
  • Common errors in mapping processes - and how to avoid them
