Spiky Profile Graph (.xls)

Version
VT2.0

This template assists RTOs when analysing language, literacy and numeracy levels of students in line with the requirements of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF)

Please note that the revised Standards for Registered Training Organisations were publicly released on 1 October 2024 and will come into full regulatory effect from 1 July 2025.

The Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 will continue to apply until then.

This template is based on, and refers to, the requirements for the current regulatory environment.

Identifying the Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) levels of students includes comparing the levels they are capable of with the units of competency they are being enrolled in. A number of Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) use software packages that test students and plot their levels against the units in spiky profiles. However not all RTOs use these software packages. So how do these RTOs create the spiky profile? Manually!

If your RTO is one that is setting up spiky profiles manually, or you are yet to create spiky profiles for learners, then this template will provide instant spiky profile graphs for you once you enter a few numbers from your analysis of the unit and student levels.

This product is set up with two different templates types:

  • A cohort (class) template that will plot a group of students on a spiky profile
  • Individual students plotted on their own spiky profile

Take your analysis of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) for each unit, and your learner testing, and plot it out in this easy-to-use Excel template.
