When it comes to designing and developing assessments a range of skills are required to visualise, address and implement practices and methods that give learners the best opportunities to achieve competence.
Join Melanie Alexandra for this webinar as she unpacks the essential design requirements of the unit of competency TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools. Looking at the most common design misconceptions, this session will focus on why RTO assessment authors have difficulties creating compliant tools and resources, often resulting in non-compliant outcomes at audit.
Being the first of two sessions, attendees will concentrate initially on elements one and two from this unit which cover determining what the focus of the assessment is and actually designing the tool. An Assessor’s essential planning begins at this stage as he/she underpins the end goals and how each tool plays a part in enabling students to achieve those competent outcomes.
Attend this webinar to:
gain a clear understanding behind the purpose of each assessment tool;
take a look at an assessment tool’s primary audience, purpose and context;
explore the methods and evidence gathering techniques applied;
ensure that the tool adheres to the required assessment principles; and
look at how to correctly administer and use the tool.
The session will also address a clear set of design benchmarks to support a successful assessment development journey.
This session is for all VET assessors who use assessment tools and is irrespective of whether they are the primary author of those tools. As RTOs are essentially responsible for their assessment systems and resources, whether developed by their own people or purchased from an externally developed source, this session covers the components which are essential for maintaining the compliance of those tools and contextualising them to meet and address student needs and outcomes.
