How to Help Students Struggling with their Course (2022)

13 July 2022
ONLINE via Zoom Webinar

Are Any of Your Students Struggling with the Course?
What the likely gap from school learning is - and how you can help!

Overview

Every VET course has a theory component built in because every unit of competency has knowledge evidence requirements that must be met in order to demonstrate competency.

But what happens when students come into vocational education and training with little, to no, idea about how to properly address the theoretical requirements of their course? In these cases, it’s not unusual for students to struggle with providing appropriate responses to assessment tasks.

As educators, we have a golden opportunity to turn this around by explicitly upskilling students in knowing what is required for an assessment task and how to respond – thereby ensuring every student is fully equipped with the skills to be a successful participant in VET.

Using the theories of adult learning and psychological safety as a basis, this session will briefly explore some of the common challenges students may face in their VET study – and what we can do to assist – before moving on to unpack a tried and tested way to set students up for success with their knowledge evidence requirements.

Recent feedback identified that you want PD that helps you with supporting students, so we are bringing back this extremely highly regarded webinar (rated 4.4/5 stars)
