The Student Identifiers Registrar is responsible for administering the USI initiative nationally and manages the USI Registry System which creates and stores USIs; and helps students and education and training providers access the USI Registry System to create, find and update USIs securely.

For VET students, the USI gives access to an online record of their nationally accredited training in the form of a VET transcript which can be used when

• applying for a job
• seeking a credit transfer and/or
• demonstrating pre-requisites when undertaking further training.
