Your Way: Keeping up to Speed With the New Trainer and Assessor Requirements

This 90-minute webinar is from our  suite of Your Way offerings. It is ready to be presented to your staff, at a time that suit you! Need more information? Simply fill out our enquiry form below for a quote.

Session Overview

The new Standards for RTOs (SRTO2025) aim to improve quality and integrity across the VET sector, through enabling a more flexible, robust, and quality-driven approach to regulations.

SRTO2025 provides a more direct link between the requirements RTOs are expected to meet and the outcomes they must deliver.

However, there are some significant changes and adjustments that need to be reflected by RTOs and their workforce to maintain compliance post-2015 standards.

This session will unpack the credential requirements, explore how trainers/assessors can demonstrate that they possess the knowledge and skill at the level of the training product being delivered and explore a variety of activities that could be used to support industry currency (Standards 3.1-3.3).

Further to this, the session will outline the role trainers and assessors play in creating engaging and well-structured training (Standard 1.1), checking industry relevance (Standard 1.2), providing support services (Standard 2.3) and supporting the diversity of VET students (Standard 2.5).

Key topics covered

  • Creating a self-assessment that supports a professional conversation
  • 'Mapping' the self-assessment and the professional conversation questions to the units of competency
  • Writing the professional conversation questions in a manner that provides direct evidence of the candidate's performance in the workplace and reduces the amount of paperwork traditionally required to be compiled by the candidate
  • Recording the candidate's responses succinctly whilst still enabling the assessor's professional judgement to  be clearly identified in the record of assessment
  • Determining any need for subsequent assessment of practical skills
  • Identifying gaps and using the skills of an assessor to determine if they are gaps in evidence or gaps in skills and knowledge
