Topic

We all know that interesting, interactive sessions are more likely to increase learner involvement and subsequent learning. Interaction and problem-solving empower learners to play an active part in the learning process and have a voice, which increases confidence and a sense of learning ownership.

To really understand an area of focus, we need to investigate the fundamental language we use: this is vital if we are to provide an inclusive learning environment. We must also consider developing skills and equity in the way we group learners.

Skills like mind mapping, a cognitive process to make meaningful connections between concepts and ideas, was also a focus in this session. Additionally, Reflection, using practical activities, is integral to our learning sessions if we want our students more invested in the process.

This session contains 6 interactive and interesting learning activities that you will be able to implement with your learners immediately to increase their involvement in the learning process.

Attendee's investigated:

  • Problem solving, using De Bono’s 6 Thinking Hats to increase investigative and interactive learning

  • Developing language and understanding – some fun activities to avoid misunderstandings around the use of language

  • Grouping students for learning- how to ensure all group members are active and involved – not watching from the sidelines

  • Constructing Mindmaps to make sense of content and aid memory
