Recorded on the 04/06/2024. This 90-minute webinar was the second of five from our Focus Week: Student Diversity & Wellbeing. Engaging a variety of diverse learners can be challenging. This session provided an opportunity to explore how to use student experience and knowledge to foster learning in others.

Please note that the revised Standards for Registered Training Organisations were publicly released on 1 October 2024 and will come into full regulatory effect from 1 July 2025.

The Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 will continue to apply until then.

This webinar recording refers to, and is based on, the requirements for the current regulatory environment.


Topic

This session discussed techniques to enhance learner engagement and participation through the use of two-way learning models.

By acknowledging and appreciating students’ diverse backgrounds, experiences and knowledge, the classroom can become an inclusive and multi-modal learning environment.  

Through the encouragement of learner participation in the teaching and learning process, and with the use of storytelling and shared experience, all learners can become mentors.

This ownership fosters engagement and has been proven as a mechanism to improve student learning outcomes.
