Recorded on 26/03/2024, this webinar focused on the building blocks for effective educators. Together, we investigated the skill of giving clear instructions that didn’t end in disaster, leading smart discussions, using PowerPoint for good, and keeping the focus of learners. We also investigated some Reflective Practice tools that could be immediately used with learners.

Please note that the revised Standards for Registered Training Organisations were publicly released on 1 October 2024 and will come into full regulatory effect from 1 July 2025.

The Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 will continue to apply until then.

This webinar recording refers to, and is based on, the requirements for the current regulatory environment.

Topic overview:

In this session, we focused on the skill of giving clear instructions: it seemed easy… but could be the thing that brought educators undone. Together, we tried some strategies to improve confidence in this important area.

We explored the art of planning and running interesting, smart group discussions that avoided the dreaded silence or a sense of learner boredom.

We also looked at proven strategies to make PowerPoint a friend as a learning resource, not something that would bore learners senseless.

Together, we investigated ways to read the room and gauge learner interest and activity. This way, you could ensure that learners stayed in the learning zone and did not get sidetracked.

We completed our session with an innovative opportunity for Reflective Practice that could be used with learners.
