Were some of your students disengaged and disinterested in learning? This session with Kay Schlesinger presented an array of practical strategies to trial in the process of re-engagement and reigniting the spark.

The session aimed to model and share proven approaches to engage learners whose previous default position had been to disengage from their learning communities.

It explored strategies to transform disengaged learners into active participants within their learning communities.

By addressing the root causes of disengagement, participants learned practical techniques to foster a fresh start for students and create an inclusive, engaging environment.

Educators gained insights into tailoring activities to suit diverse concentration spans, building confidence through positive reinforcement, and leveraging group skills and technology to promote collaboration

Bio of presenters:

Kay Schlesinger has worked in numerous educational sectors, including a position as a Deputy Principal where she took responsibility for the professional Development of educators and supported new leaders in the sector. In the last 20 years Kay has worked in VET, Higher Education and as an Educational Consultant.

In 2020 Kay was awarded an International Specialised Skills Institute fellowship by the Department of Education and Training for her work with new teachers. Kay is currently mentoring organisations around empowering new educators for organisational improvement.

Developing the capability of educators has been Kay’s passion for many years. She is focussed on partnering with educators to create interesting, interactive learning experiences.
