Webinar Recording: Keeping up to Speed With the New Trainer and Assessor Requirements

The new Standards for RTOs (SRTO2025) aimed to improve quality and integrity across the VET sector by enabling a more flexible, robust, and quality-driven approach to regulation.

SRTO2025 provided a more direct link between the requirements RTOs were expected to meet and the outcomes they were required to deliver.

However, there were several significant changes and adjustments that needed to be reflected by RTOs and their workforce to maintain compliance beyond the 2015 Standards.

This session unpacked the credential requirements, explored how trainers and assessors could demonstrate that they possessed the knowledge and skill at the level of the training product being delivered, and examined a variety of activities that could be used to support industry currency (Standards 3.1–3.3).

Further to this, the session outlined the role trainers and assessors played in creating engaging and well-structured training (Standard 1.1), checking industry relevance (Standard 1.2), providing support services (Standard 2.3), and supporting the diversity of VET students (Standard 2.5).
