Effective student support: enabling the learner journey - good practice guide (2025)

This Good Practice Guide presents six key elements of effective student support that help foster training success through the learner journey. Based on examples of good practice, this guide presents a model for providing a whole-of-institution, learner-centred approach to VET student support for improving program completion.

Methodology Report & Tool: More than 1300 VET training package qualifications have been analysed using natural language processing techniques to identify similarities between them. The outputs of the model are available in a new searchable dashboard, the Exploratory Analysis of VET Qualification Similarity.

The Strategic Review of Online Learning in the VET sector is identified as a regulatory risk priority in ASQA’s Regulatory Strategy 2020-22 and in the 2021-22 Regulatory Risk Priorities. ASQA uses a risk-based approach to determine the most significant risks to achieving ASQA’s purpose, which is to ensure quality VET and the integrity of national qualifications issued by training providers.
