Qualifications

As one part of the endorsed component of a Training Package, qualifications are a group of Units of Competency ‘packaged’ together as the requirement for working in a particular industry role at a specific level. A qualification is also the official documentation recognising competency in all of the units specific to a particular grouping of units.

Training Package Development

When Training Packages are developed and/or maintained, various organisations are involved in the process to ensure occupational skills are delivered to the particular standards required by specific industries.

AVETMISS

The Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information Statistical Standard (AVETMISS) outlines the format required for the submission of descriptive data about students and their study activities.

Delivery of Training

Delivering training takes planning and preparation to ensure all resources, rooms and content is accounted for.

Apprenticeships and Traineeships

Collectively known as ‘Australian Apprenticeships’, both apprenticeships and traineeships offer the opportunity and benefit of being trained and working towards a nationally recognised qualification, whilst working in industry and earning a wage.

VET Quality Framework (VQF) - Australia wide

The VET Quality Framework (VQF) is a set of standards and conditions used by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), the national VET regulator, to assess whether registered training organisations (RTOs) under its jurisdiction meet the requirements for registration. To obtain and retain registration, RTOs must comply with each of the elements and their associated components.

Skill Sets and Microcredentials

Skill Sets are a single Unit of Competency or combinations of Units of Competency from an endorsed Training Package, which link to a licensing or regulatory requirement, or a defined industry need or job role. Micro-credentials are small, certification-style courses that focus on a particular area of study to hone proficiency over the shortest possible time.

Accredited Courses

Accredited courses supplement the national training package framework by delivering unique training outcomes in industry required skills that are not covered by relevant Training Packages or endorsed Units of Competency.

eLearning

eLearning is the delivery of online learning and assessment and, whilst this method of learning has been around for some time, it has, in recent times, become a more essential blended learning component. For information and guidance on how to navigate the online training terrain and apply eLearning strategies across your own programs, you are here provided with a range of webinar topics and links which will guide you, enhance your understanding and dispel any fears you may have when transferring your skills from one platform to another.

Quality Assurance (Self Assurance & Auditing)

Quality Assurance gives confidence that the quality requirements of a product or service are being fulfilled. All RTOs should ensure their operations are quality assured so that quality VET delivery is maintained.

Education Services for Overseas Students Framework (ESOS)

The ESOS Framework performs a number of functions with respect to organisations offering courses to international students studying in Australia on a student visa.

Industry Engagement

A process used to ensure that assessment reflects current industry practise, Industry Engagement can offer multiple benefits for the RTO as well as the wider VET sector.
