Section 2: Credentials for the delivery of training products from the TAE Training Package

Section 2 of the Credential Policy specifies credential requirements for individuals delivering training and assessment for training products from the TAE Training Package.

Registration and Addition to Scope

Training providers must meet requirements specific to the relevant regulators in order to become registered to deliver VET in Australia.

Regulators

VET regulators are independent bodies working to uphold the quality of VET delivered in Australia. They perform a number of functions including the registration of RTOs and subsequent monitoring of their operations for compliance with relevant standards.

Feedback, complaints and appeals - Standards 2.7 and 2.8

Standards 2.7 and 2.8 relate to the focus area of feedback, complaints and appeals.

Quality Area 3: VET Workforce

Quality Area 3 comprises two focus areas and three standards that shape the way an RTO’s workforce is configured to deliver quality training and assessment.

Assessment Systems

An assessment system encompasses the policies, procedures, and tools used to gather and interpret evidence of a student's skills and knowledge.

Validation

Validation is the review of the assessment system to ensure that assessment tools are consistent with the training product and the requirements of the Standards; and assessments and assessment judgements are producing consistent outcomes.

Training Products

Training Products are the items that an RTO lists on its scope of registration. They are what the RTO is registered to deliver, assess and issue AQF documentation for.

Trainer and Assessor Requirements

Delivery of quality vocational training relies on having properly qualified educators with relevant experience. Specific requirements for trainers and assessors are mandated by the Standards.

Certification

Certification is formal confirmation of a person’s competency, this means there must be steps taken to maintain the integrity of an RTO’s processes for issuing this official documentation.
