Draft 1 Cross-Sector Online & Social Media Training Package Products Consultation image

An extensive multi-channel consultation process has been completed which has gathered the views of a range of stakeholders across multiple industries in each state and territory and identified common skills needs to inform the development of future Training Package Products.

The consultation has confirmed that there is overwhelming support for training in skills to conduct online & social media consumer engagement across all industries. To ensure skills training continues to be in line with workforce needs, the following new cross-sector Training Package Products have been developed:

Units of Competency

Note: For the purposes of drafting, interim unit codes have been assigned.

  • OSM001 Use information and computer technology
  • OSM002 Identify social media and online platforms
  • OSM003 Maintain ethical and professional standards when working online
  • OSM004 Use social media and online tools
  • OSM005 Analyse performance of social media and online business tools
  • OSM006 Develop a basic website
  • OSM007 Develop and manage social media and online strategies
  • OSM008 Manage risk to organisational reputation in an online setting.

Skill Sets

  • Introduction to social media and online business tools Skill Set
  • Basic social media implementation Skill Set
  • Engage customers through social media and online presence Skill Set
  • Develop an online presence for customer engagement Skill Set.

National consultation on Draft 1 of these new Training Package Products is now open and will close at 10.00am on Monday, 3 December 2018.

Throughout the consultation period SkillsIQ will also be undertaking a number of activities to engage industry stakeholders and Vocational Education and Training (VET) professionals to gather feedback.

These will include a series of webinars, national consultation forums, and stakeholder interviews.
