Tidy Up Suggested for Cleaning Industry
As an industry, cleaning is worth billions – but it remains unregulated requiring no formal qualifications. Being an unlicensed occupation, there is no requirement for cleaning staff to have formal qualifications. Many cleaners have in fact learnt their trade through informal means.
Enrolments in Cert II, III and IV courses (in cleaning operations, carpet cleaning and cleaning management) are on the increase, and the Property Services IRC is keen to extend these qualifications to other areas within the cleaning sector.
A further analysis of current and anticipated skill levels within the cleaning industry will be examined as part of the forthcoming 2020 Skills Forecast. Artibus is calling for industry stakeholders to register their interest in the proposed project.
