How to make the most out of Your Time in Sydney

How to make the most out of Your Time in Sydney image

With only 64 days to go until the 2017 National VET Conference, the event is quickly approaching! If you haven’t yet organised your flights and accommodation in Sydney, you had better get to it! Before you do though, why not consider staying the weekend? As we say every year, the NVC presents the perfect opportunity for a weekend getaway. What better way to unwind after a hectic two-day event, than to explore one of Australia’s most famous cities?

Even if you’re not a Sydney local, I’m sure you have experienced, or even just heard about, how fabulous Sydney is. Having been referred to as “Australia’s leading global city”, the city covers 26.16 kilometres within the metropolitan region, and is the headquarters for almost 40% of the top 500 Australian corporations. Located in the heart of “Asia Pacific’s premier convention, exhibition and events precinct”, the brand-new International Convention Centre (ICC) is the perfect place to hold our 11th National VET Conference. But, the NVC and ICC are not the only fun things to do and see in Sydney. To help you make the most out of your visit, we have organised tours, and compiled a list of the best restaurants and accommodation on offer.

Tours

  • BridgeClimb Sydney have offered conference attendees a special rate of 20% off. Climbs are available throughout the day, and offer a breathtaking view of the famous harbour and its surrounds.
  • Taronga Zoo have offered conference attendees a special rate of 30% off. Explore one of Australia’s most famous zoos – just make sure you show your lanyard!
  • Gray Line Tours have offered conference attendees a special rate of 10% off all of their Sydney/Blue Mountain Tours. Travel dates are from 28 August 2017 to 19 September 2017, so there is plenty of time before or after the conference to take up this offer.
  • Check out our website for further information on these great offers.

Restaurants

Sydney is a proudly multicultural city, which means that there is an abundance of cuisines and restaurants to discover. Some of Australia’s most highly regarded restaurants are located in Darling Harbour (right outside conference) and in the heart of the city. Make sure you take the time to indulge in the diverse cuisine. Check out this website for an overview.

Accommodation

Sydney is home to some seriously luxurious hotels and resorts! If you feel like treating yourself, why not stay in one? With plenty of public transport options available, getting to and from Darling Harbour won’t be a problem. Or, if you stay the weekend, you could switch your conference accommodation for something a little more special. Take the time to relax – you deserve it. See here for some great accommodation options.

If you haven’t booked your flights yet, make sure you take the time to check out the Velg Training website. Velg Training has partnered with Virgin to offer you some great deals travelling to the conference. Make sure you have a look so you don’t miss out!
