Are You 'Currently Competent'? Let's Do a Quick Check .... image

What does currency actually look like?   And ... how much is enough?

These questions have plagued Trainers and Assessors for years.  Demonstrating currency can sometimes feel like a real challenge, particularly when different types of currency are often painted with the same brush.

The professional development and engagement activities we undertake, the evidence we collect and the ways in which we align that evidence with requirements and expectations comes in all kinds of colours, shapes and sizes.  Yet it often feels like we are continually starting with a blank canvas.

Practitioners do need to ensure they stay on top of both current industry skills and training and assessment practices to ensure they are always deemed to be 'currently competent'.

Why? Well, a Trainer and Assessor's currency is actually critical to their ongoing claim to competence and not just to tick off that ever-important compliance box.  Most importantly, it is about the quality of training and assessment received by our students.  This service is one that must continually reflect industry practice as required by Australian industries today and align with current training and assessment service standards.

Velg Training's Speed Training event dedicates two of its four sessions entirely to these topics exploring the ways in which currency impacts competence whilst providing some key tips and tools to easily measure and maintain those currency requirements.

What is Speed Training exactly?

Well, just like Speed Dating, Speed Training is based on the idea that focused, short, sharp information sessions facilitated by our VET Expert can 'bring you up to speed' all in one day!

Essentially, you attend one quick event, then move on and attend the next one, and then the next one, and so on.   Each session is therefore brief and focused, giving you lots of information to take away and giving you a good break in between to answer those urgent emails or phone calls.  Its a great way to get some 'full on PD' without having to be absent from your work or home tasks for the whole day.

Taking place on Friday 26 March 2021, our 2021 Speed Training: Competence and Currency Essentials event provides the opportunity for you to register for 4 x 45 min webinars, each being part of a 4-piece package.

You don't have to pay for each session individually as it's sort of a 'buy one, get three free' type of scenario' with each of the sessions ensuring you gain some real insights about the obligations of an RTO and its Trainers and Assessors when it comes to ensuring that they themselves can demonstrate the requirements of the Standards.*

*This professional development is directly aimed at the compliance requirements of Clauses 1.13 to 1.16 within the Standards for RTOs 2015.
