Apprentice and Trainee Commencements Continue to Climb image

In-training as at 30 June 2021

There were 341 385 apprentices and trainees in-training as of 30 June 2021, an increase of 27.5% from 30 June 2020.

Quarterly training activity

In the June quarter 2021, compared with the June quarter 2020:

  • commencements increased by 114%, to 47 785
  • completions increased by 21.2%, to 17 795
  • cancellations and withdrawals increased by 66.9%, to 25 030

Training activity: 12-month ending series

In the 12 months ending 30 June 2021, compared with the 12 months ending 30 June 2020:

  • commencements increased by 59.5%, to 214 930
  • completions decreased by 8%, to 77 025
  • cancellations and withdrawals increased by 8.9%, to 84 510
