New Ministers Announced for Education and VET Portfolios

New Ministers Announced for Education and VET Portfolios image

New Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced his first ministry:

  • The Hon. Dan Tehan is now the Minister for Education and Training, replacing the Hon. Simon Birmingham who is now the Trade Minister.
  • The new Ministry includes a change in how VET is represented with it now sitting within the Small Business, Skills and Vocational Education portfolio, headed by the Hon. Michaelia Cash.

Velg Training would like to thank the Hon. Karen Andrews, who in her time as Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills, has represented the VET sector tirelessly, and on many occasions, spoken at Velg Training events.  Her efforts and commitment are much appreciated.

This excerpt from Minister Andrew’s website shares some of her statement regarding the change in portfolio:

In my time as Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills, I have worked to restore credibility to the sector and as I have recently stated, I believe the ‘green shoots’ in vocational education and training (VET) are starting to emerge again. As well, I lead [sic] the Real Skills for Real Skills campaign to raise the status of VET – highlighting VET as a first choice education pathway and a stepping stone into work.

Again, Velg Training thanks the Hon. Simon Birmingham and the Hon. Karen Andrews, and welcomes the new ministers, the Hon. Dan Tehan and the Hon. Michaelia Cash.
