Event Wrap Up: 2017 VET CEO Conference

How exciting! Last week, a few of our lucky staff members were in Melbourne for the first ever VET CEO Conference. It was a busy start to the week, with Kerri, Tracey and Dimity in Perth for the WA Training Provider’s Forum and the Perth members Networking Breakfast, and the others working hard back at Velg HQ to finalise all details for the upcoming event. With our bags packed full of lanyards and warm clothing (we heard it’s chilly in Victoria!), Suzy, Brittanie, Elyce, Jemyma and I set off to meet the others and prepare for a huge two days!

Once arrived, we headed straight to the Park Hyatt to begin our favourite activity – satchel packing! This involves collecting all of our sponsors’ flyers and packing them into the delegate satchels. Yep, that’s over 150 of them (if you think that’s a lot, you should see the amount we do for the National VET Conference!) After all satchels were packed and ready to go, the Events Team headed to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre for a site visit. Hint: the MCEC is the 2018 venue for one of the biggest events on the VET calendar each year. After our busy day, the Grand Trailer Park Taverna provided a well-needed burger, and maybe a drink or two!

The day had arrived! At 6.30am Friday morning, the Velgy bunch met in the lobby for a big breakfast, ahead of the big day. Setting ourselves up around the venue, we prepared to welcome over 150 guests to the 2017 VET CEO Conference. From 7.30am onwards, it was all hands on deck and soon it was time for sessions to begin. With a buzz of excitement in the air, our guests headed off to hear some of the best keynote speakers talk about all things CEO. Throughout the day, we ensured everything ran smoothly, listened to some sessions and met our guests during meal times. Throughout the night, we had fun at the Networking Drinks and indulged in some wine and cheese!

The entire Velg Training team could not be happier with how the first ever VET CEO Conference turned out! It was a day filled with expert advice, quality networking and fun had by all who attended. If you missed out on the 2017 VET CEO Conference, don’t worry! The event will be back again next year – bigger and better. We can’t wait to make this event a highlight on the VET calendar every year, and we are so thankful to all of those who made this first one so successful.
