One Million VET Students Set to Take Part in Satisfaction Survey

One Million VET Students Set to Take Part in Satisfaction Survey image

The National Student Outcomes Survey for 2021 has begun with close to one million students being contacted about their satisfaction with training, employment, and further study outcomes.

It will be interesting to see the variation in feedback relating to the student experience as we move through evolving stages of the pandemic and the impacts this has had on the variety of delivery methods and opportunities now available through education institutions.

New this year are a set of questions for apprentices and trainees as well as posing important questions about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on students’ training experiences.

It is important that feedback is analysed to inform best methods of enabling learners to undertake the mandatory practical demonstrated of skills representatives of vocational education and training.

NCVER's Managing Director, Simon Walker said that it is important we continue to build on the knowledge base from last year about the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on students and the sector.

"We’ve added extra questions to this year’s survey about training experiences and employment outcomes for apprentices and trainees. These new questions will allow comparisons with information collected in the 2019 Apprentice and Trainee Experience and Destination Survey, as well as provide current insights."

With around 889 000 domestic VET students and 63 000 international onshore VET students, who completed vocational education and training in 2020 to be contacted, this is Australia’s largest survey of VET students.

The results of the survey, which is managed by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER), are used to help future students make decisions about training, and to assist governments ensure VET is of high quality and relevant to Australian workplaces. Registered training organisations who are eligible will benefit from receiving data specific to their students.

Former students have already begun receiving their survey invitations.  Survey results will be available at www.ncver.edu.au from late 2021.
