With the 2017 National VET Conference fast approaching (only 49 days to go!), it is all hands on deck in the Velg Training office. All staff are working harder than ever to prepare for the event and the office has become even more fast-paced than usual! To ensure everything runs smoothly, Velg Training has developed a tradition over the years: the Health Retreat.
The Health Retreat is a simple event in which all staff members complete fun tasks to keep us energised and enthusiastic at such a busy time. Normally, the Health Retreat involves team building and exercise activities, but this year we have done things a little differently and created a ‘Block Style Conference Challenge’. The challenge will run for seven weeks in the lead up to the conference, and will have staff members complete tasks such as timed box cutting, floor plan familiarisation, mindfulness, sleep tracking and use of the staff kit.
By participating in different activities and engaging in valuable information sessions that discuss the benefits of meditation and getting enough sleep, we can spread positivity throughout our workplace and keep our health up and stress levels down.
Whether they are completed in the lead up to a big event, or just as part of our everyday work life, these tasks can help us to develop healthier habits at work. Taking some time out to slow down at work can benefit all of us, and you can implement similar practices in your workplace, too!
