This report provides information about the performance of the National Skills Commissioner's functions and the exercise of the Commissioner's powers during 2020–21.

This information includes:

  • Australia's current, emerging and future workforce skills needs
Issues affecting the state of the Australian and international labour markets
The development of efficient prices for VET courses
The performance of Australia's system for providing VET
Care Workforce Labour Market Study, and
Informing the public

In its first year of operation, the commission made rapid progress in delivering on the priorities of the Australian Government.

As the National Skills Commission enters its second year of operation, it builds on the foundations laid in 2020–21. It will continue to use innovative and dynamic approaches to provide expert advice and national leadership on the Australian labour market and current, emerging and future workforce skills needs.
