NCVER Report: VET statistics explained

NCVER Report: VET statistics explained image

Australian vocational education and training (VET) statistics are drawn from VET administrative data collections and surveys and provide a comprehensive picture on the performance of the VET system. These statistics are underpinned by the AVETMISS Standards.

AVETMISS Standards

The Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information Statistical Standards (AVETMISS) offer a nationally consistent framework for the collection of VET data in Australia.

The AVETMISS Standards apply separately to collections of:

  • VET enrolment activity (National VET Provider Collection and National VET in Schools Collection)
  • Apprenticeship/traineeship training contract activity (National Apprentice and Trainee Collection)
  • Funding information (National VET Funding Data Collection)

Training providers submit data to the National VET Provider, National VET in Schools and National Apprentice and Trainee collections using the web-based AVETMISS Validation Software (AVS).

Funding information is sourced from the Australian, state and territory government departments responsible for VET (National VET Funding Data Collection - available once implementation phase complete).

Data Collections and Surveys

NCVER manages four national collections covering different aspects of vocational education and training (VET) in Australia, as well as a range of national surveys.
