How Are Your Instructional Design Skills Working Out for You?

How Are Your Instructional Design Skills Working Out for You? image

You have probably been asked to design, produce, or update a training course at some point in your career, like the majority of individuals in the VET industry.

Whether it is something as ‘simple’ as preparing a PowerPoint presentation for a course or information session, designing student learning materials, or even putting together an e-learning program, most of us are familiar with this challenge. While designing training courses, or ‘Instructional Design’ is a specific discipline and very narrow field of study, knowing some of the basic principles can make your work stand out.

So, what are the tips you wish you knew to keep your content engaging?

Rated a phenomenal 4.5/5 Stars at the 2022 National VET Conference, join one of our most popular presenters, Tony Kirton, for this 90-minute session in February 2023 where he will walk you through a range of instructional design principles that he wishes he knew when he started designing training programs more than 12 years ago.

Tony will show you how to enhance the training courses, presentations, or e-learning programs you are asked to create to be outcome-focused, engaging and based on sound, evidence-based instructional design principles.

During this session, you will explore:

  • some of the key evidence-based principles used by instructional designers to design great courses
  • tips for clarifying the client’s needs and understanding the brief before you start designing
  • things to remember to keep your content engaging
  • common pitfalls and learning design myths that you should disregard.
