Early changes to the current Standards for RTOs

The Minister for Skills and Training has signed off on the Standards for Registered Training Organisations Amendment (VET Workforce Support) Instrument 2024 , effective from 1 March 2024.  

These early changes are designed to address current pressures on the VET workforce and provide more immediate benefits to the sector.

Update to the Users' Guide to the Standards for RTOs 2015

Version 2.3 of the Users’ guide to the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 was published March 2024.

National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) industry wide safety alert

On 15 December 2023, the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) released an industry wide safety alert that highlighted concerns with the issuing of safeworking competencies.  

ASQA are investigating Australian Rail Track Corporation approved technical training providers, who are registered training organisations (RTOs) delivering rail worker industry competencies.

Consultation to help build the vocational education and training workforce

The Australian Government, in collaboration with states and territories, is developing the VET Workforce Blueprint to support, grow and sustain the VET workforce.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) for membership of the Training Accreditation Council are now invited

The Minister for Training and Workforce Development is looking for a person with effective leadership skills, strategic thinking abilities, knowledge and experience in quality assurance to help influence the quality of VET throughout Western Australia.  

The Council’s primary roles are to assure the quality of training services delivered in the VET sector in Western Australia through effective regulation of providers and the accreditation of courses not covered by nationally endorsed Training Packages. The Council monitors training provider quality and takes action where necessary to address non-compliance.
