AI and Digital Transformation a High Priority for RTO Leaders in 2024

Echoing themes from last year, the findings from our latest Voice of VET report reveal a palpable rebound in 2024. This year we’ve expanded our survey to include the hottest of topics – artificial intelligence (AI). The report highlights the transformative potential of digital strategies with significant emphasis on their impact to course content, course management, and overall student experience.

Despite a slight drop in average student enrolments in 2023, RTOs are more optimistic about their revenue in 2024, with four-fifths expecting revenue to increase or stay the same.

A notable gap exists in AI strategy, as 80% of RTOs admitted to having no plan in place. However, RTOs recognise that having a digital strategy is essential for streamlining course content and management. Post-COVID, face-to-face delivery remains crucial, balanced with the retention of online training.

The overall satisfaction with student management systems (SMS) is high, with a focus on strong and adequate student experience. Similarly, high satisfaction rates and retention are noted with Learning Management Systems (LMS), as two-thirds likely to keep their current LMS.
