Recorded on 30/11/2020 and forming part of the TAE PD Week this webinar looked at the unit TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes and explored applying these requirements to the assessment planning work undertaken.

Topic overview

As trainers and assessors, we are familiar with the unit TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes.

It defines the skills and knowledge required to plan an assessment strategy. It applies to individuals with assessment planning responsibilities. These responsibilities include identifying components of assessment tools, analysing and interpreting assessment tools, and developing assessment instruments and assessment plans. To ensure that our assessment suits the specific needs of learners, the assessment ‘planner’ should determine the appropriate assessment approach/es and incorporate these into their plan (including modification and contextualisation of the assessment activities and processes as required).

This webinar applied these requirements to the assessment planning work you do in your industry area. Acknowledging that units of competence, as written, are generic, designed to be applicable in different industry contexts and with different learner groups, this webinar focused in particular on contextualisation to:

(1)   meet the particular needs of your learners;
(2)   address the requirements of the assessment environment in which you are working; and
(3)  align assessment activities with the work roles associated with your specific industry area.
