VETiS program: A practical approach to earn QCE points

The future is looking bright for Queensland’s high school students. As part of a student’s Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), Year 10, 11 and 12 high school students have the opportunity to study a range of vocational education and training (VET) courses.

Queensford College’s Vocational Education and Training in School (VETiS) program paves the way for students’ post-graduation career goals, be that a bachelor’s degree, a diploma, or a certificate. Participants will be equipped with current industry knowledge, practical hands-on skills, and they gain a competitive edge in the employment market.

Queensford’s VETiS program offers a practical approach for students to earn up to 8 QCE points as they benefit from flexible course delivery while at school. VETiS has never looked this good to give the best options for students to launch their careers early on.

Our courses are designed to engage students during their training to ensure that the knowledge is not only taught, but the skills are acquired in a practical hands-on environment. Our VETiS support team are here to help throughout the entire process from enrolment to graduation, ensuring that the focus can be directed where it counts – on the students!

The courses offered under the VETiS program are: 

• Certificate II in Hospitality (SIT20316) - an entry-level qualification for students who are seeking a career in the hospital industry, a booming sector worldwide. Students can discover possible career outcomes as waiters or waitress, cafe assistants, and much more. Students are offered practical placement opportunities with local businesses, all facilitated by our own in-house vocational placement officer.
• Certificate II in Horticulture (AHC20416) - a perfect choice for students who have a desire to nurture their skills and knowledge in horticulture. Students can discover possible careers in horticulture, nursery, parks, and gardens.
• Certificate II in Kitchen Operations (SIT20416) – for students who aspire to learn basic kitchen skills. These skills reflect the role of individuals working in kitchens who use a defined and limited range of food preparation and cookery skills to prepare food and menu items. Students are offered practical placement opportunities with local businesses, facilitated by our vocational placement officer.
• Certificate II in Tourism (SIT20116) – a stepping stone qualification into the tourism and travel industry. Students will gain an insight into the office operations where the planning of tourism and travel products and services takes place.

As of this year, Queensford College is offering a new Dual Certificate II in Hospitality and Tourism. For a small fee students can maximise their options to receive 2 certificates and 8 QCE points.

Driven by our commitment, we don’t make schools fit in with our schedule; instead we will work with schools to make it suit them. Our program is designed on a flexible delivery model and schools can completely customise the program to run shorter or longer, depending on their school year timetable.
