Contributors
Velg Training

Version
VT1.0

Recorded on the 26/08/20. This webinar unpacked the differences between industry and vocational competency, and explored strategies to maintain and demonstrate your currency.

Please note that the revised Standards for Registered Training Organisations were publicly released on 1 October 2024 and will come into full regulatory effect from 1 July 2025.

The Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 will continue to apply until then.

This webinar recording refers to, and is based on, the requirements for the current regulatory environment.

The standards for RTOs place a responsibility on all trainers and assessors to maintain their industry subject matter expertise along with their vocational capability.

While formalised professional development contributes to this process, involvement in industry forums, projects and communities of practice provide rich opportunities for building currency.

Reflective thinking from these experiences should promote new opportunities for innovative approaches to industry training that contribute to continuous improvement for the RTO and trainers/assessors alike.

This webinar aims to help you build a new understanding of your PD Plan and use critical reflection to evaluate your experiences to improve teaching and learning and initiate new approaches!

What was covered in the session:

  • Industry currency vs vocational competency
  • Strategies to maintain and demonstrate currency
  • Developing a PD plan as a formal strategy for currency
